The Statistical Package GENSTAT 5 for Windows is introduced and utilised extensively throughout the course. Revision of basic regression and analysis of variance methodology. A selection of topics from the following: extension of regression (both linear and non linear); design and analysis of complicated multi-factor experiments; Latin squares; analysis of covariance; generalised linear models (including probit analysis and logistic regression); multiple comparisons. As part of the course a selection of case studies will be discussed to illustrate the important steps involved during a research program (ie development of aims, setting of hypotheses, design of the experiment, collection of data, analysis and interpretation of results).
