General Course Information
Course Code ARTH 5207 Course Curatorial Placement Coordinating Unit Art History Term Semester 2 Level Postgraduate Coursework Location/s North Terrace Campus Units 6 Available for Study Abroad and Exchange Y Prerequisites Pass in 9 units of Art History courses Restrictions Available to ProCertArtHist, GradCertArtHist, GradDipArtHist, MA(StArtHist) & MA(Cur&MuseumSt) students only Quota A quota may apply Course Description Students will embark upon a minor writing, cataloguing, exhibition, display or other curatorial project to be proposed, developed and executed under the joint supervision of a nominated Gallery curator and the program coordinator. This project differs substantially from the internship in that it concentrates exclusively on curatorial and research work in an agreed area. Ideally, students working on this project would be able to participate in the preparation of a published exhibition or permanent collection catalogue.

Course Learning OutcomesAt the successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

Learning & Teaching ModesAs this is a curatorial placement involving curatorial research in a gallery or museum it will entail much problem based learning.
The information below is provided as a guide to assist students in engaging appropriately with the course requirements.6 unit courses in HUMSS are designed on the assumption that all learning and assessment activities such as reading, online tutorials, preparatory work for seminars etc., will require approximately 312 hours over the course of the semester.
