Course Learning OutcomesIn 2018, the topic of this course will be Fundamentals of Continuous-Time Markov Chains
In this course we shall explore the fundamental properties of continuous-time Markov chains (CTMC). What you have learnt in Applied Probability III or Random Processes III is slightly sanitized version of the true range of properties of CTMC. In this course we won't be so restricted, but will instead more fully explore the generality available.
Assumed knowledge is either Applied Probability III or Random Processes III.
1 Understand the properties of transition functions 2 Understand the properties of generator matrices 3 Understand the relationship between transition functions and generator matrices 4 Understand the construction of the Feller Minimal Process 5 Understand the relationship between invariant measures for the transition function and for the generator matrix 6 Anything else we cover, which might be Martingales of Renewal Processes 7 8 9 10
