This course seeks to provide a broad understanding of the major theories and approaches to psychotherapy and counselling since the 20th century. Historically, some of the most well known and important approaches have included Psychodynamic, Cognitive-Behavioural and Humanistic. This course briefly covers the above-mentioned and a range of other approaches and seeks to address current trends in counselling and psychotherapy where practitioners typically approach their work with great diversity, flexibility and creativity. Applications of each approach to grief counselling are examined.
