Course Code ENS 2025B Course Elder Conservatorium Chorale 2 part 2 Coordinating Unit Elder Conservatorium of Music Term Semester 1 Level Undergraduate Location/s North Terrace Campus Units 3 Contact Up to 2.5 hours per week, plus additional rehearsals prior to concerts Prerequisites Audition Incompatible 8763 (pre-2002) Restrictions Priority is given to Music degree students but course is available to non-music students (by audition) Course Description Rehearsal and performance of accompanied and unaccompanied choral works in a variety of musical and choral styles; on-going development of choral, musical and ensemble skills to a high level.

Course Learning Outcomes1. Develop musical performance skills in the context of choral ensemble rehearsals and concerts that display accuracy, fluency, advanced technical skills and a mature expressive sense along with a strong conceptual and interpretative understanding of the chosen and prescribed works
2. Develop effective practising strategies which arise from independent, imaginative and creative approaches to problem solving including the use of contemporary technologies
3. Develop critical understanding of own and others’ musical performances in relation to the standards required for a professional career

Learning & Teaching Activities
Learning & Teaching ModesStudent learning takes place with structured conductor-directed full ensemble rehearsals, student-directed sectional rehearsals, and the actual performances themselves.
The information below is provided as a guide to assist students in engaging appropriately with the course requirements.The workload for this course consists of:
• One 2.5 hour rehearsals per week
• Up to 3.5 hours of individual preparation of relevant vocal parts
A schedule of rehearsals and performances will be provided to students before week 1 of semester 1. This schedule lists ALL rehearsals and performances for the entire year and will be attached to this course profile.

Specific Course RequirementsThe nature of an ensemble such as this means that some rehearsals and all performances will occur outside of the regular weekly rehearsal time.
