Course Code BIOSTATS 6001EX Course Mathematical Background for Biostatistics Coordinating Unit Public Health Term Semester 1 Level Postgraduate Coursework Location/s External Units 3 Contact Nil Available for Study Abroad and Exchange N Restrictions Available to Grad Cert, Grad Dip, M Biostatistics students only Course Description On completion of this course students will be able to follow the mathematical demonstrations and proofs used in biostatistics at Master's degree level, and to understand the mathematics behind statistical methods introduced at that level. The intention is to allow students to concentrate on statistical concepts in subsequent courses, with an understanding of the mathematics employed. Content includes: basic algebra and analysis; exponential functions; calculus; series, limits, approximations and expansions; matrices and numerical methods.
