C&ENVENG 7063 - Computing for Geostatistics

North Terrace Campus - Winter - 2014

The purposes of this course are: (1) To teach the rudiments of Fortran 77/95 programming language so that students can implement their own simple programmed versions of geostatistical techniques. They may also require these skills for manipulating data in their project and coursework. (2) To teach Visual Basic in Excel (VBA) so that students can write VBA routines for data manipulation and data analysis in Excel. (3) To teach numerical algorithms and computer methods commonly used in geostatistics including sampling, Monte Carlo simulation, matrix manipulations and solving large sets of linear equations.
