    An exemption to the hurdle requirements of the Assessment for Coursework Programs Policy has been approved by the Faculty of Sciences for 2020.

    Assessment Detail

    Spot Quizzes (5%): The Spot Quizzes (six for virology (3%) and four for microbiology (2%)) will be conducted during lectures and will comprise of Virology and Microbiology content. Each quiz will take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete.

    Group Assignments & Presentations (16%) All students in the class are divided into small groups. Each group is involved in completing and submitting an assignment (2000 words) and a 10 minute presentation at the presentation times. The virology presentations and assignments worth 8% (4% each) and microbiology presentations and assignments worth 8% (4% each).

    Practical Assessments (10%) The practical assessments will comprise of a bacteriology practical exam (in class time) and assessment of the immunology practical class laboratory notebook.

    In-Semester Exams (23%) There will be four in-semester exams covering virology (7%) , microbiology (6%) and immunology x 2 (10%).

    Final Semester Written Exams (46%) The final exam is divided into three separated exams on three different days: 1) Virology (15%); 2) Microbiology (16%); 3) Immunology (15%). Each paper may consist of a combination of short answer, multiple choice and long answer questions.

    Late Submission

    If an extension is not applied for, or not granted then a penalty for late submission will apply.  A mark of zero will be allocated to late submitted assessment.
