Dental Science and Practice 3 provides students with the opportunity to develop as dental professionals who, upon successful completion of the course, will be able to manage patients with a wide range of common dental problems. The focus of the course is to emphasise an holistic, preventively-based approach to oral health care, with a minimally invasive approach if restorative treatment is required. Students will be expected to apply and integrate knowledge and understanding of relevant biological sciences in managing their patients and demonstrate high levels of professionalism, including an ability to effectively self-assess and a desire to continue to learn and grow as a member of the dental profession.

These have been designed to help you learn key concepts in DSP III as well as give you feedback on your progress and to gain experience in the question formats used in DSP III, These activities will be in the form of questions in class meetings, learning laboratories, tutorials and online questions accessible via MyUni.

    * students must demonstrate professional behaviour throughout the year to achieve a satisfactory grade in DSP III. This includes punctual attendance and participation in ALL SCHEDULED CLASSES, as well as accurate and appropriate completion of self assessment requirements and participation in student-tutor assessments.
    # written assessment (including exams) fall under the University's rules and regulations, e.g., concerning cheating, plagiarism etc.

    Students must obtain a satisfactory result in each of the components of the summative assessment during the PCPC block, and in each of the components in semesters 1 and 2. Students must also pass the PIA, to pass DSP III and the Third Annual Examination.

    The overall grade for the year will be determined by performance in the written examinations, moderated by performance in the clinics and laboratories, according to a 60/40 split.
