Each student will work in a small group on a project. Research skills and written and oral communication skills will be developed. Ongoing written reporting, oral presentations, a project report, and participation in group work are required.

Course Learning OutcomesAt the end of this course, students should have:
1. Demonstrated familiarity with a specialized topic in an area of mathematics and/or statistics.
2. Demonstrated skills in critical analysis and interpretation of mathematical and/or statistical results.

Learning & Teaching Activities
Learning & Teaching ModesWeekly group meetings with the lecturer.
Two oral presentations: a mid-semester presentation and an end-of-semester presentation.
Students will also attend the weekly Communication Skills III lecture, but will be exempt from the assessment in that course.
