This course explores the wide range of aspects associated with the development of skills and expertise in both performance and musicianship across various ages and differing levels of skill attainment, from beginners to elementary and advancing levels. The course includes a component entitled ?Music Learning Through Community Service? in which students will undertake supervised teaching practice (e.g. with adult learners). The course also explores ideas about cultural diversity and non-western music as applied to repertoire for music learning. There will be a focus on ensemble methodology which will embrace arranging and conducting and relevant materials such as CPM Ensemble.
