Professor Graeme Hugo AO was an Australian demographer, academic and geographer. He served as the Director of the Australian Migration and Population Research Centre at the University of Adelaide. He passed away on 20 January 2015. In honour of Professor Hugo, The South Australian Government has established an annual scholarship, commencing in 2016 for three years. The scholarship includes an internship with a Government Department that contributes to the coursework component of the recipient's Honours degree. During the internship, the successful recipient will undertake a project identified by the Government Department with advice from the University of Adelaide. The identified project will be of value to the Government and will count towards the recipient's qualification.
