MEDICINE 4001 - Medicine Lateral Entry Bridging Program

North Terrace Campus - Semester 1 - 2017

Orientation and preparation for clinical practice in Australia for all commencing International lateral entry students. Training in basic life support and venepuncture. An assessment of the application of current knowledge to clinical cases. Completion of modules on hand hygiene, prescribing, gloving and gowning. Review of skills in history taking and clinical examination as per expectations of commencing Year 4 students in the MBBS. Ensuring mandatory clearances such as immunisation and police checks are completed prior to entering the hospital setting. Cultural competencies and familiarisation of practice in a new setting.
