In this course, you will develop your identity as a modern engineer who will collaboratively contribute to sustainable and equitable communities. This course will broadly introduce the engineering profession and highlight the socio-technical and interdisciplinary nature of engineering. The themes of the course will enable students to: distinguish and practise professional conduct; communicate and interact in a style appropriate to academic and professional contexts, including oral, written, and graphical styles; explain the engineering method from problem formulation through the complete life cycle; generate and assess ideas and solution alternatives for engineering problem solving; critically evaluate proposed engineering solutions in terms of sustainability, economic, environmental and social considerations; and apply basic project management strategies and processes. These themes will be explored through a variety of team and project-based learning activities.

This assessment breakdown is registered as an exemption to the University's Assessment for Coursework Programs Policy. The exemption is related to the Procedures clause(s): 1. a. i
Due to the current COVID-19 situation modified arrangements have been made to assessments to facilitate remote learning and teaching. Assessment details provided here reflect recent updates.
In-class Participation (10%) will now become a grade for Online Participation, which will still involve completion of Workshop exercises and interaction with Senior EWB Mentors (now via Zoom). Lecture panel participation is still to be determined, pending arrangements with guest lecturers.
The team Interim Report will now be due 4pm Monday 27th April (Week 7). All online quizzes that were due before 27th March have now been extended to 4pm 27th March (Week 4).
Digital Engineering assessments, originally Workshops & 3D printing (8%) and Drawing Submission (7%), will now comprise of:
two online workshops, worth 3% each
engineering drawing submission, worth 4%
online quiz, worth 5%
All other assessments and due dates remain the same.
