The Professional Experience is the central focus of Teacher Education programs. Professional Experiences in Terms 1, 2 and 3, as well as the e-Portfolio, constitute the capstone requirements for the completion of a teaching degree program. The Professional Experience placement is the central focus of Teacher Education programs. Professional Experiences in Terms 1, 2 and 3, as well as the e-Portfolio, constitute the capstone requirements for the completion of a teaching degree program. This 10-day Professional Experience course consists of four 3-hour lectures to prepare 10 days of block placement in a secondary school in the Department for Education, Independent, Lutheran or Catholic sectors. Students are expected to engage fully with their Mentor Teachers' classes and the School community.

    • Prepare for and attend four 3-hour pre-placement workshop at the commencement of the course

    Assessment Related Requirements
    Mentor Teachers in placement schools undertake the assessment of the Pre-service teachers during Professional Experience (10day) placement. Mentors are required to supervise and report on the Pre-service teacher’s progress.

    This placement, along with Professional Experience A, Professional Experience B and the e-Portfolio are capstone requirements for all undergraduate Pre-service teachers. All Pre-service teachers are required to meet the Graduate Level of the APST and evidence of this achievement is recorded through the e-Portfolio
