MANAGEMT 7118 - Strategic HR Management

North Terrace Campus - Trimester 3 - 2019

Organisations almost universally proclaim that `people are our greatest asset?. But what does this mean in practice and how can employees be managed in ways that strategically support both the organisation and the individual? This course explores key HRM functions and responsibilities from a line manager rather than a HR manager perspective. It considers the legal and ethical context for people management including relationships between employers and employee associations. It explores strategic people management practices such as talent management, diversity management and career management in contemporary organisations. It provides opportunities for students to grapple with some of the `big issues? facing organisations and people managers in rapidly changing local, national and global environments.
