Learning analytics is a complex area, and it can be daunting to even think about where to start. This is why we have a team dedicated to learning analytics. As part of the Learning Enhancement and Innovation Unit, the Learning Analytics Team offer assistance to staff within the University looking for data insights in order to enhance learning and teaching practices.
The Learning Enhancement and Innovation Grant Projects for 2018 have officially concluded. After collating the final reports, we can now share a summary of each of the nine projects that were part of this scheme. The 2018 LEI grant scheme facilitated projects that aimed to enhance and develop new and better approaches to achieving student learning outcomes. The funds enabled projects to extend beyond normal teaching activities and show innovation in aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.
A new approach to a proven initiative: Using technology to provide a fresh, service-driven approach to small group student learning
Dr Chelsea Avard was awarded a 2018 LEI Grant for her application titled: “PASS (Peer Assisted Study Sessions) Online Pilot Program”.
In 2018, Elizabeth Yong was awarded a Learning Enhancement & Innovation (LEI) Grant for her application entitled: “Video captions and inclusive learning design”.
Dr Mark Dodd and Dr Jamie Botten were awarded a 2018 Learning Enhancement and Innovation Grant for their application titled: “Learning Experience Design (LXD): An end-to-end evaluation of learning objects, from co-creation to learning impact”.
Joy McEntee, Jessica Viven-Wilksch & Rebecca Vivian were awarded a 2018 LEI grant for their application titled: “Encouraging University of Adelaide staff to use the Echo360 Active Learning Platform and evaluating effectiveness in formally assessing”.
During times of remote learning, the ability to assess student engagement with course content has become increasingly important. The New Analytics tool within each course in MyUni can provide data insights into student engagement and participation with content and resources within a course.
