  • Biography/ Background

    Dr Gizachew Tessema has obtained his bachelor's and master’s degrees, both in public health in Ethiopia, and has completed PhD in Public Health in the School of Public Health, the University of Adelaide. Following successful completion of his PhD, he received Dean's Commendation for Doctoral Thesis Excellence. Gizachew has a wide range of research experience including perinatal epidemiology, fertility and family planning, maternal and child health, health services and health systems research, global health, infectious diseases (HIV and malaria), and cancer epidemiology (with a specific emphasis on prostate and cervical cancer).

    In terms of academics, while he taught several public health courses in the University of Gondar in Ethiopia (2009-2015), Gizachew tutored Public Health 1A and International Health courses for undergraduate Health and Medical Sciences students in the University of Adelaide. His research outputs can be accessed from PubMed.
