  • Biography/ Background

    Enthusiastic solution-finder and life-long learner. Exploring the possibilities of authentic learning experiences and technology with sticky notes and whiteboards in tow.

    Kahiwa is a collaborative strategic designer of innovative student-centred learning experiences, with a focus on evaluation of learning analytics, agile development practices and creative solutions-focused thinking.

    As the Manager, Learning Design as part of the Learning Enhancement and Innovation unit, Kahiwa leads a team of skilled and experienced practitioners of learning design. The Learning Design team offer design advice, consultancy and support at program, course and activity levels and work closely with Faculties and individual academics on a wide range of projects. 

    Kahiwa has experience working in educational organisations in both public and private sectors, and across K-12, corporate and higher education. She has experience developing and delivering online, blended and face-to-face educational programs, and managing the back-end of technologies and data analysis possible. Kahiwa is a collaborative, enabling and supportive leader of project teams, with extensive experience working alongside academic staff and subject matter experts.

    An accomplished facilitator and presenter, she has delivered presentations and workshops on assessment and feedback principles in practice, gamification and exemplary course design. and believes learning should be about authenticity for the student - in context, relevance and applicability. Kahiwa is passionate about the potential for technology to transform learning for the better and is always seeking innovative ideas and thinkers to learn from and share with.
