    The R.J.N. Franki Medal by the Institution of Engineers, Australia, 1974, for the best paper on any engineering subject by a student member of the Institution.

    Commonwealth Public Service Executive Development Scheme Award 1988.

    The Best Presentation Award at the 1991 International Hydrology and Water Resources Conference, Perth.

    The best paper award (with Nick Fleming) at the Hydrology and Water Resources Symposium 24-28 November 1997, Wai-Whenua, Auckland New Zealand.
