Applied Mathematics

Mathematics is crucial for analysing the challenges of modern life and assisting us to make informed decisions in the face of uncertainty. In our Applied Mathematics major, you'll study mathematical theories and work on projects that apply mathematics to solve real-world problems.

You’ll gain critical skills in mathematical modelling that can be applied across a broad range of areas, including: medical diagnosis tools and treatment; weather forecasting; space exploration; financial modelling and prediction; disaster management; computer animation and gaming; and online security.

With skills in logical thinking, problem solving, creativity, data analysis and communication, you’ll be well prepared to forge a highly rewarding career in industries such as: banking and finance; insurance and investment; information technology; environmental modelling; meteorology; health; education; and research.
