The LEI Media Production Team provide support to all University of Adelaide staff in developing engaging learning videos. We produce high quality video content that compliments and enhances face to face and blended learning, as well as support the Online Programs Team in the production of fully online post-graduate degrees and MOOC’s on the edX platform.
Video support
The team is centrally located in the Barr Smith Library Recording Studio (BLS) which is on level two of the Barr Smith Library.
Self-service video
High quality lecture recording is available in most teaching spaces throughout the University, but the BSL studio provides the opportunity to record planned learning content ahead of time in a manner that isn’t possible using Echo360.
Some examples of the self-service studio capabilities are live key (or green screen), picture-in-picture and lightboard (or learning glass) recordings.
These modes of capture and delivery allow both the presenter and their content to be on screen at the same time, providing presenter-to-content engagement similar to a ‘live’ lecture, and a meaningful connection between the expert and their content.
The studio is a controlled environment, incorporating an automated camera, lighting and audio settings which allow you to focus on the content and delivery, making it a perfect place to film an interview.
The team also have two iMac editing suites parallel to the studio in BSL229. The suits are equipped with the Adobe Creative Suite and Camtasia Studio for self-service editing.
Getting to the studio
The Barr Smith Library is located on level two of the Barr Smith Library. Once a staff member has a confirmed booking, an access card can be collected from Ask Library staff on Level 3 ahead of the booking.
MyUni intro videos
A high-quality scripted course introduction video can help to set the scene for the upcoming semester. The Media Production Team can provide a BSL Studio demo and help staff to load scripts into the teleprompter. Staff can then record their video and provide a BOX link to the team, along with a completed list of edit instructions (using the template provided).
The Media Production Team then do the post-production work, add University branding and provide staff with a file ready to go into any course.
Production services
Our production services aim to enhance learning through scenario videos, subject expert interviews, demonstrations and virtual field trips. Video is great medium to showcase this type of content and provide the learner with on-location context which aids in the storytelling, not always possible in written form.
A considered, well written, high-quality learning video can be used across multiple courses and for many years to come.
