Mail & Couriers
Update to mail services, June 2020
Physical mail and freight
All mail is being received in centralised mail rooms. At North Terrace the centralised mail room is located in Oliphant 217, while mail is being received at the security building at Waite and Roseworthy.
Each school or department (mail cost centre) requires a nominated representative and a backup representative who, after verifying their identity, can despatch and collect mail at the centralised mail room between 9:30 am and 11:00 am weekdays. Once signed for, the representative will be responsible for storing the mail safely or ensuring its appropriate distribution. To set up a departmental representative please email Steve Mylius.
While some faculties and divisions are looking at options to redirect mail or parcels to residential addresses this is not being considered on a University-wide basis. Please speak with your faculty executive officer or admin team if you would like to know whether this is an option in your area. If redirection is approved, it will be necessary for the nominated representative to collect mail from the mail room, readdress the mail and then place it back into the mail system. Any costs associated with mail redirection will be the responsibility of the relevant faculty or area.
If you have personal parcels delivered to your office please contact your suppliers and have them delivered to your home address.
The post office on the North Terrace campus is open.
Large mailouts can be organised directly with the post office located on the North Terrace campus. Please treat all mailouts as once-off purchases and use a University-issued credit card to make payment.
Choose electronic over hardcopy
Where possible, we recommend working with your stakeholders to transition to 100% scanned or PDF copies of correspondence that would usually be sent by mail. In most instances an electronic copy can be sent in lieu of a hard copy.
Toll and Australia Post provide all mail and courier services for the University of Adelaide.
University mail is automatically sent using the Australia Post REGULAR service. If a PRIORITY service is required, items must be separated and clearly labelled as priority mail.
For more information visit the Australia Post website.
