What’s new at the library?

Innovation in referencing

From Semester 2, the University Library will provide referencing support to students and staff through our online support materials.

Students will be able to access the new Harvard UoA interactive tool which will guide them through the referencing process. The tool has been developed as a collaborative partnership between the University Library, Writing Centre and Learning Enhancement and Innovation. Other styles supported by the Library include APA, Vancouver and AGLC4.  You can link your students to the new Harvard interactive guide from within your MyUni courses; or link them to the new Referencing support webpages.

The new pages will be available from the Library homepage at the commencement of Semester 2; or go directly to referencing support to access:

  • the new Harvard UofA interactive referencing guide
  • guides for the other UofA supported styles (APA 7th, Vancouver, AGLC4)
  • FAQs and advice on referencing principles and tips for generating references
  • Links to information on academic integrity and copyright advice, as well as to the Writing Centre for help with academic writing.

New look for databases

The very astute among you will have noticed that our Databases interface has changed.

Our databases are now available by subject through a simplified look that integrates with our library catalogue software.

Check out the new look through the Databases link under the Library Search box on the Library’s homepage.

Digital Humanities Lab events going strong

The University Library’s Digital Humanities Lab program is continuing in the second half of 2021.

This series of webinars and in person meet ups is intended to showcase digital approaches to humanities research, within our own community and beyond, and bring researchers and students together who are interested in new methods and approaches. With humanities-relevant data and digitised material becoming more easily accessible, and online tools helping experienced and inexperienced users analyse and visualise their research in new ways, digital humanities is an exciting space that is creating new collaborative research opportunities.

Events over August and September use real life research examples and in person experiences to take a closer look at text analysis, network analysis, virtual reality and more. Find out more, and register for upcoming events.
