Exhibition - 125 years - Aboriginal Women’s Suffrage

Jennifer Caruso painting by Colleen Raven Strangways

Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples should be aware that this display may contain the images and names of people who have passed away and may cause distress.

This art exhibition features the creative talents of photographer Colleen Raven Strangways of Nharla Photography. Her contemporary portraits of Aboriginal women capture a determined spirit, resonant with the suffrage movement 125 years ago and vital in the fight for equity for First Nation Australians.

Created as part of the University of Adelaide’s celebrations of the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in South Australia. Find this exhibition on Level 3 of Hub Central, and Level 3 and Level 1 of the Barr Smith Library in the Lounge area.

This exhibition was curated by Dr Jennifer Caruso, Lecturer, Department of History, in collaboration with Amy Dale, Exhibitions Coordinator, University Library.
