Copyright material can be copied and communicated if it is for the purpose of conducting or answering examination questions.
This means staff can rely on it to use copyright material in their question and students can rely on it to use copyright material in their answer.
It applies to both paper and online examinations as long as they are an assessable component of the course, e.g. you can’t rely on it for example exam papers or practice quizzes. This exception includes all types of material, e.g. text, music, videos, along with adaptations.
