New Pentobarbital Storage Regulations

The Office of the Chief Pharmacist has advised that new regulations regarding the secure storage of pentobarbital injection for humane euthanasia of animals will come into effect on 4 June 2021.

Anyone in the University of Adelaide using pentobarbital for humane animal euthanasia must ensure that the drug is kept secure at all times when in use so as to prevent unauthorised access, and is stored (when not in use) in a drug safe.

The information has been published on the SA Health website.
