2022 World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers’ Memorial Day

The 28th of April 2022 is World Day for Safety and Health at Work and Workers' Memorial Day – a day for reflecting on how occupational deaths, injuries, diseases and illnesses can better be prevented.

Every two days in Australia, a worker will go to work and never come home, and 120,355 total serious injury claims were made in 2019/20 alone.

The theme set by the International Labour Organisation for this year's World Day for Safety and Health at Work is ‘Act together to build a positive safety and health culture’.

Do your part towards keeping the University a safe place for everyone by:

  • Reporting incidents, near misses and hazards through UniSafe
  • Calling out unsafe behaviour in the workplace
  • Starting discussions about health and safety, particularly if you work in a high-risk area such as lab or workshop
