    International Women's Day 2018: Diversifying Portraiture

    Diversifying Portraiture

    As part of International Women’s Day celebrations, the University of Adelaide hosted the 2018 Diversifying Portraiture series, with the goal of upgrading the public spaces and symbolism associated with the University to promote a more diverse and inclusive environment.

    The University produced a series of photographic posters including an image and biographical details of eminent women associated with public and academic life at the University.

    The 2018 series was launched by Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Peter Rathjen and Dr Barbara Kidman one of the women featured in the 2018 cohort at 2pm, 8th March 2018.

  • International Women's Day 2017

    To mark International Women's Day for 2017, a special event focused on flexible working arrangements was hosted by the University. The event included a panel discussion hosted by South Australian Commissioner for Equal Opportunity, Dr Niki Vincent.

  • 'Diversifying Portraiture' - 2017 Launch to coincide with International Women's Day

    International Women's Day 2017: Be Bold for Change

    As part of International Women’s Day, last year the University of Adelaide launched a ‘Diversifying Portraiture’ initiative, based on a similar project from Oxford, which has the goal of upgrading the public spaces and symbolism associated with the University to promote a more diverse and inclusive environment.

    The University produced a series of photographic posters including an image and biographical details of eminent women associated with public and academic life at the University, The project working party comprises of members of the Gender Equity Diversity Committee, as well as the Director of University Collections and historian, Emirata Professor Margaret Allen.

    The new additions to the collection will be displayed on the ground floor of Nexus 10 to coincide with 2017 International Women’s Day. The collection is part of the University of Adelaide collections and we are working with External Relations to establish a fund for future additions of women to the collection.
